The Home Health and Geriatric Care course (NIOS Course Code: 445-448) offered at H M Orphanage Private ITI, Manjeri, is a specialized vocational program designed to meet the growing global demand for skilled elderly care professionals.This course trains students to provide comprehensive care to the elderly, addressing their physical, emotional, and psychological needs. It is certified by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Government of India.The curriculum is divided into four practical and theoretical modules designed to build holistic caregiving skills: Basic Life Sciences (Code 445): Understanding the human body, vital signs, and basic anatomy relevant to aging. Aspects of Aging (Code 446): Learning about the biological, psychological, and social changes that occur during old age. General Care and Specific Needs (Code 447): Training in daily care routines, hygiene, nutrition planning, medication management, and first aid. Yoga for the Elderly (Code 448): Specialized therapeutic yoga techniques to improve mobility, mental health, and physical stability in seniors. Scope and Career Opportunities: The scope of Geriatric Care is expanding rapidly due to the global increase in the aging population. Global Opportunities: There is a massive demand for geriatric caregivers in countries like the UK, Canada, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East, where the elderly population is significant.
